How to improve your website in 30 mins using information architecture
In this presentation designer Ian Cheung explained briefly what Information Architecture is and how anybody can use its principles to make a better web site or blog. ("Better" in this case means "more successful" according to Ian.) Ian used some analogies to the bricks & mortar world as well as showing some hits and misses he's been involved with. He also answered the question that’s been bugging him for 10 years: "How can you tell if a site is any good?"

Ian Cheung is an Information Architect from Northern Ireland working in Osaka. He’s been involved with the web since 1996 when single pixel gifs were king. He’s been working in the Kansai area since 2002 as a teacher, web designer, usability expert and freelance IA. Ian's a keen photographer and an occasional geocacher (unfortunately he’s also a mosquito magnet). Two of his most recent projects are Living in Osaka, a blog unsurprisingly about life in Osaka and Oboeyasui.com. He’s planning another site to tackle the weakness of the MNP(Mobile Number Portability) system in Japan. Ian's personal definition of Design is “Problem Solving through Communication."
