Sean Schertell on No-Brainer Web Design
Great presentation and a fantastic turnout! Sean talked about creating intuitive user experiences for the web and how complicated interfaces, unintuitive navigation, inconsistent naming, etc. are the things that will drive users away from our site faster than you can say "click here!" The problem is, as Sean explained, is that what may seem totally intuitive to one designer might be completely counter-intuitive for many users. Sean did a wonderful job of exploring simple and practical design guidelines that separate a hard-to-use site from a "no-brainer" site.
Sean Schertell is an independent web developer and co-founder of DataFly.Net WebServers. As an audio recording engineer in New York City in the mid 1990s, Sean began dabbling with HTML on the side and soon found a new career as a freelance web developer creating high profile websites for clients including MTV, Capitol Records, Dell Computers, and the US Dept. of Treasury. He now lives in Osaka managing web services for clients in Japan and abroad.
